The Arizona Battery for Communication Disorders of Dementia ABCD) is a standardized test battery for the comprehensive assessment and screening of dementia patients.
It includes 14 subtests that evaluate linguistic expression, linguistic comprehension, verbal episodic memory, visio-spatial construction, and mental status. Subtests can be given individually or collectively. The results are useful for making differential diagnoses, developing treatment goals, and patient care plans. In addition, the results allow clinicians to monitor patient change over time and add to discharge planning.
The ABCD was standardized on patients afflicted with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, as well as young and older nondisabled individuals. The manual contains information on validity and reliability.
Complete ABCD Kit includes: Examiner’s Manual, 25 Response Record Forms, Laminated Scoring and Interpretation Card, Stimulus Book A, Stimulus Book B, and a sturdy storage box. (1993)
